"Tappin' About a Better World"
This past Monday, I spent the evening with our local Theology on Tap group. The middle room at Buco de Beppo in Chandler was filled with eager souls thirsting to hear about how our little acts of charity can help make our world better. I shared my personal experience with charity, which led me to work as a Catholic missionary with Hearts Home, in the slums of Buenos Aires, Argentina for 14 months. And while some of us are called and blessed to become missionaries in foreign countries, this certainly doesn't mean we are ALL called to this. Rather, we all are given opportunities on a daily basis, "to reveal God's love here on earth," which Pope Benedict defines as charity. It's the little, insignificant tasks of our every day life where we bring Heaven to souls here on earth. It's looking in the eye of the clerk ringing you up, it's listening with love to your mom share for the 10th time the same story after your long day at school, it's smiling at a stranger even if they don't return it back to you, and the list goes on and on. Fr. Thierry, the founder of Heart's Home says, "we are often tempted to believe that God wants us to build the Eifel Tower, when all He is asking us to do is peel potatoes." Let's listen to St. Therese, the Little Flower and please our God in performing the littlest tasks with the greatest love, and slowly, our world can't help but become better.
Thank you for your prayers! Please keep them up and know you are in ours!
Theology on Tap organizer Michael Campbell had this to say Brooke Burn's Testimony and Talk.
"Brooke was amazing! She really spoke to our hearts about how we can all make a difference in our daily lives. Many of us will never have the opportunity to do what she did, but we can all make an impact in the things we do daily and the people around us who are so in need."
